about

Monuments is a psychedelic rock song by Polarizer, one of the first written for their first album. Monuments started as a few different dynamic guitar parts written by Ian Palmer, and was developed by the rest of the band.

It is the first Polarizer song to prominently feature keyboards as a lead instrument, after the second chorus.

lyrics

It's buried deep.
We marked it with an x
And walked away together.

And over where we left
What's left there grew a tribute to what we made together.

With any luck
We'll turn this back around
Get back to the starting of
what we once had found.

And when we do
well hold our heads up high
It's taken ruins to get here
Monuments take time.
I know they do.

Before you plaster over the walls
Look through the open window first.
There's beauty in the bruise.

With any luck
We'll grow from underground.
And take our first steps away from
Where we're safe and sound.

With every step
We'll hold our heads up high.
Its taken ruins to get here
Monuments take time.
I know they do.

Before you plaster over the walls
Look through the open window first.
There's beauty in the bruise.

It's over now
We marked it with an x
And walked away again.
